Real Estate for Sale in Bogota, Colombia

A sprawling city of 8 million nestled high in the Andean mountain range in inland Colombia, Bogota offers similar real estate opportunities an investor might find in any major American or European city. Bogota’s recent period of growth and development has been called an “urban renovation,” as the capital has expanded considerably in size and established itself as one of the most livable cities in South America. Apartments and condominiums are most common within city limits, but luxury homes and larger properties are available in Bogota’s outlying areas, in desirable suburbs such as Chia, Sopo and Briceno. The Colombian government is actively seeking to increase foreign investment and welcomes retirees from the U.S. or Europe to maintain or improve their quality of life in modern cities like Bogota.

Some of the city’s best areas to invest are neighborhoods in the north, including Chico, Santa Barbara, Chapinero Alto, Los Nogales, Santa Paula, and Cerros de Suba. Rental properties in Bogota’s center near to tourist attractions and the main business district are also good locations to buy and sell real estate. Community housing complexes are common in the capital’s outskirts, where a retiree or expatriate would be able to integrate into Bogota society easily.
