Transactions in Cash

image_chapter

Since your transaction will be in cash it's necessary to bring your money into Argentina. New laws require all transfers to go through the Central Bank of Argentina. When transferring funds into Argentina U.S. Dollars are automatically exchanged to Pesos. But since all real estate transactions are conducted with U.S. Dollars your Pesos will have to be converted back to U.S. Dollars. Each time your money is converted you're charged a few cents per dollar and these fees can add up. It's a strange process but it's how Argentina works. The buying process is expensive in Argentina. However the cost of property is low so there is a counter balance.

A good rule of thumb when figuring costs to buy is this, all costs incurred before signing the final paperwork at the notary is considered sellers fees while costs incurred after the signing are the buyers costs. These include title fees, the buyer's agent commission, and the lawyer fees.
