Having Fun in Brazil![]() Recreation Brazil enjoys sports and activities both recreational and competitive and you'll find enthusiastic fans at many sporting events. Recreation however is not limited to sporting events; many outdoor activities keep the people of Brazil happy, healthy and enjoying life. Sports Football or Soccer is the most popular team sport in Brazil and the country has won the World Cup more than any other country…five times. You'll find young and old alike at soccer events and these fans are always an energetic bunch. But Soccer is not the only sport where Brazilians excel. Grand Prix, horse jumping and Polo are both popular and Brazilian competitors are highly respected. Tennis is another sport Brazilians have enjoyed over the years. Outdoor Activities The exceptional range of terrain provides a wide variety of activities. Eco tourism is prolific in Brazil and many visitors come to experience the wilds and beauty of Brazil. Hike through the amazing tropical jungle or float down the Amazon. Diving and snorkeling the Atlantic waters provide an abundance of underwater beauty including coral reefs teaming with colorful fish. Swim with dolphins and turtles in the warm reef protected waters along Brazil's coast. Surfing is another popular coastal activity in Brazil. Several areas specialize in providing a world class surfing experience whether you are an old beach bum or just a surf pup. Sea Kayaking is a great way to enjoy the ocean. You'll have the opportunity to participate in this activity along most of Brazil's coast. Sailing and para-sailing are both available for the adventurous, while the more sedate may prefer to watch from the shade of a beach umbrella. Brazil is home to 1000s of species of fish and fishing in Brazil is popular with tourists as well as locals. You'll find four dominant regions in Brazil that provide varied fishing experiences. Of course the ocean will yield an abundance of fishing opportunities. You'll have a great time catching Sail Fin, Marlin and Wahoo while the Amazon is home to many types of fish including Apapa and Piranha. Other regions offer bait fishing and fly fishing and with an experienced guide you'll catch more fish than you ever thought possible. Beaches Brazil is home to some of the most dazzling beaches in the world and some say the most dazzling women in the world live on these beaches. Some beaches in Brazil are more of a cultural phenomenon rather than a geographical location. Several are legendary including Copacabana and Ipanema. These two beaches have become gathering spots where the young and old alike…all scantily clad…congregate to see and be seen. But there are many more beaches just as beautiful without the crowds. Many islands sit off the shores of Brazil. These islands boast beautiful uncrowded beaches with white sand and clear waters. Ilha Grande is an excellent Island to visit if you're in search of beautiful Brazilian beaches without the crowds. Nightlife In Brazil, bars and nightclubs aren't necessary for exciting nightlife. One can simply stroll the streets to find groups of people dancing and drinking. Beer is quite popular in Brazil and sold almost anywhere, including from the trunks of peoples cars. So with a boom box and a busy corner you'll soon easily have a happy crowd singing and dancing to just about any music while consuming beer and other spirits. For people who enjoy the traditional nightlife there are bars and clubs in many of the tourist destinations. There you'll enjoy beautiful people, rhythmic soulful music and a happy go lucky atmosphere. Many bars and nightclubs feature local bands early in the evening. These bands usually play regional music. As the night unfolds a DJ may replace the band, then you'll experience music in every dance genre you can imagine. For many this is when the real party begins.
