There are many beautiful towns and cities in Brazil; some large, some small, some on the coast and some inland, and even some on islands. Buzios can be considered a bustling tourist destination and one of the more expensive areas in Brazil simply because of the tourist traffic. On the other hand Teresopolis is also beautiful. It's in the mountains an hour or so from Rio de Janeiro while Buzios is a small fishing town south of Rio de Janeiro. Teresopolis is quaint and charming and welcomes a few tourists and offers great real estate prices; far below Buzios. Both offer homes, small and large, new and old and the difference may simply be in location and tourist traffic.

Rio de Janeiro is one of the hotter real estate markets these days and many of the suburbs are seeing a huge migration of newcomers purchasing new construction homes as well as more established homes. Condominium and home developments are both available in and around Rio de Janeiro so you have a really good selection of real estate choices.

If living on an island has always appealed to you consider Ilha Santa Catarina located off the southern coast of Brazil. The island is approximately 200 square miles and is home to Florianópolis, a bustling island city providing the amenities of the 21st century and the charm of by gone days. Florianopolis attracts visitors year round to this tropical island while the secluded white sand beaches and charming accommodations keep visitors coming back; many to live. Despite the idyllic setting the prices for real estate on Ilha Santa Catarina are amazingly affordable. Unfortunately this won't last for long.
