Modern amenities are the corner stone of the Chilean population. The country has integrated internet, cable television and upgraded electrical and phone services. You'll find these services readily available in the populated areas of the country.

The roadway system in Chile is improving and access to most of Chile is available although the more remote areas will have dirt roads or paved roads in disrepair. Transportation throughout Chile is provided by several rail systems and bus services which provides a majority of the population easy and economical access to all populated regions in Chile.

Air travel is provided by several air ports with Arturo Merino Benítez airport near Santiago handling the major airlines. This airport provides travel throughout South America, North America and Europe while state-owned Línea Aérea Nacional de Chile provides travel within the country for tourists and other travelers. Several other airports are situated throughout Chile.

Jobs in Chile are available with the right paperwork and skills. English teachers are always in great demand but will require you to now Spanish before you can teach English. Others who want to work but don't want to hassle with paper work are often more enterprising. They work below the radar and make a living providing a service or product that is not readily available in Chile. This can be almost anything but won't be apparent till you actually live in the country and experience the culture along their needs and wants.

Chile takes as much pride in its health services as it does in its police protection. The health facilities in Chile are clean and modern and well staffed with competent doctors. The services are well priced and most people will be happily surprised by the care they receive. Modern hospitals and clinics can be found in all the major cities and even some of the more remote areas are well equipped to handle medical emergencies. Whenever traveling, insurance for travelers is always recommended despite the services offered.

Security

Chile prides itself on a very low crime rate and tourists and visitors are comforted by the great pride they take in their reputation and the lengths they'll go to maintain this reputation. In fact in other countries where bribery of police is a common occurrence Chile boasts a bribery proof police presence. Despite the safety status in Chile, visitors should always take common precautions to avoid any crimes of opportunity.
