Property Ownership in Colombia![]() The cost of living in Colombia is very attractive to foreigners accustomed to high rents and high taxes. In reality some costs are less expensive while others are the same or more. Ironically, renting a home can sometimes cost more than buying the same home. For investors this is a very attractive financial incentive. Regardless, it’s always advisable to rent in the area you’re considering before you commit to a real estate purchase. Dining out is often less expensive due in large part to the large production of fruits vegetables and meat in Colombia and near by countries. Other products like clothing can be comparable to prices in the U.S. Taxi’s and buses are quite a bit less in Colombia but car rentals can be expensive. Electrical appliances will cost more in Colombia while gasoline is comparable or even a bit less expensive than the U.S. For the most part, in Colombia you’ll find a country that offers a relatively low cost of living. But Colombia provides more than just a low cost of living, it offers creature comforts and a familiar life style for many who relocate or retire there. In Colombia, it’s not necessary to give up the modern pleasures of life in exchange for cost efficient living.
