Despite having one of highest standards of living in Latin America, Costa Rica can offer a lifestyle for the most frugal spender to the most lavish and extravagant and both are easily obtained. While some products and services may be more expensive than in America, including the cost of gasoline and the purchase of an automobile, most things are less including food and housing, utilities and household services.

After living in Costa Rica for a while you’ll find it’s easy to live well on a limited budget and many retirees move to Costa Rica because their purchasing power is much stronger than in America. Though Costa Rica is considered one of the most expensive Latin American country to live, it is still very economical compared with other countries including the U.S., Canada and Europe. For this reason and others the population of Americans and other foreigners living in Costa Rica is growing rapidly.
