Living and Investing in Mexico Might be Easier than you think

image_intro

The border between the U.S. and Mexico has blurred as more and more Americans and other foreigners are relocating to or retiring in Mexico. Why people are leaving their homelands and relocating to Mexico are many and varied, but a few of the more common reasons include a less expensive cost of living, a wonderfully mild climate and a slow paced and easy going lifestyle. Mexico offers all these along with modern amenities warm and friendly people and all the activities and excitement of a popular tourist destination.

For people who wish to live in Mexico, property ownership is easy and the process is somewhat similar to the U.S. Buying and investing in property in Mexico can be achieved in several ways allowing non residents of the country to own property outside the restricted zone and with the implementation of a trust can effectively own property within the restricted zone

Climate

Mexico’s coastal climate is one or warm soft breezes with summer showers and clear cool nights. This climate seems ideal for many people and is one of the most talked about reasons people relocate to Mexico. While the beaches are mild some areas of Mexico are more arid with warmer temperatures and less rain. These areas are more inland and vary with elevation. Rainfall in the country is minimal compared to other regions of the world and can range from somewhere around 12 inches to 30 inches or more per year. Most rainfall is in the summer months.

People and Language of Mexico

The Mexican people are friendly and accepting with a strong connection to their culture. Their life revolves around family and religion. The people of Mexico move at a slower pace and get things done in their own time. They do not put as much stock into the clock as Americans and other foreigners do. For some, this takes time getting used too but once they fall into Mexico’s easy going rhythm of life most foreigners enjoy their less stress filled way of life.

In larger urban areas of Mexico, people speak and converse easily in English. Most tourist destinations cater to many nationalities including Americans and hotel employees as well as local business people speak English fluently. However, English is not considered common in most areas of Mexico. Living is a smaller less populated area you’ll find a more traditional Mexican way of life and few if any people will speak English. Learning Spanish will be one of the most important steps associated with living in Mexico. In areas where English is not common the Mexican people will be very tolerant as you fumble your way through their language and many locals are happy to help. If you put effort into speaking Spanish they are more than happy to help with the process.
