Hot Spots to Live

image_chapter

Broadly speaking, there are two sectors where a foreigner might choose to live. Many areas in Mexico have become congregating places for specific nationalities and if living in a place where other people speak you native language is important then one of these areas or communities might be the place for you. Most of these types of communities are integrated within many tourist cities and offer all the amenities Americans and other foreigners are used to.

Some foreigners want to live the Mexican experience and choose to live among and mingle directly with the local people. If your Spanish is not strong these friendly people are very forgiving and love to help the newcomer establish themselves within the community.

Some of the more popular places for foreigners to relocate are situated in the mainland of Mexico. These cities include Mexico City, Guadalajara, San Miguel de Allende, Oaxaca, Morelia, and Puerto Vallarta. In Baja, La Paz is a popular relocation destination as is Todos Santos, Ixtapa and Puerto Escondido. In recent years the Yucatan Peninsula has become another popular destination for relocation. Although the summers are hot, the people and culture there are both welcoming of foreigners.
