Costa Rica Real Estate: Golfito, a diamond in the rough.

Golfito is located in the southeast region of Costa Rica, and it covers the Osa Peninsula, near the border Panama. Although it is a quaint farming town, they have all the necessities of life for those interested in building a home or developing some real estate in Costa Rica. These amenities include grocery stores, pharmacies, internet cafes, video stores, discos, bars, many restaurants and hotels. There is a small hospital, university and an airport with regular airline service from Sansa airlines to the capital city of San Jose. However, the big attraction for prospective real estate investors is that it sits on a huge bay with natural protection from the ocean. Another feature worth mentioning for future home owners is that the ocean floor shelf is right outside the bay entrance which means there is world class Marlin and other big game fish to be found here.

The treasure for real estate investors with sharp foresight is that this is the first large protected bay available for boaters exiting the Panama Canal and entering the Pacific on their way back up towards the U.S. Pacific coast. As a result of this prime location they are building a 214 slip marina in that bay that will accommodate up to 220 foot vessels here. Marinas like this one can accommodate large boats and yachts, those yachts bring wealthy people, wealthy people like to spend their money on luxury. This is what sets the stage in this overlooked pearl for a real estate development and building boom.

When the big wig resort developers settle into a town you know the dollars will following, Golfito is no different with future developments which include Marriot who have secured land on the bay and are building a small resort there now. For those interested in building their dream vacation home there is a large development with prime lots available for investors who are eager to get a piece of the action before the real estate values soar. Its called the Villa Ives Kena, it is a 1000 acre, planned, guarded and gated private community of 1750 lots to include an 18 hole golf course, tennis courts, swimming pool and clubhouse, beach club house 30 minutes away and its own shopping center with a grocery store, pharmacy, video store, gift shops, medical clinic and helipad.

The secret for land and housing investors is spreading about Golfito, which is why a new International Airport in nearby Cortes has been planned and approved by the government to serve the local area. While no investment in the world is certain, you have the advantage of knowing that developed real estate on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica is a money maker and Golfito is poised to be next.
