Aguascalientes Real Estate Investment
Aguascalientes real estate offers an opportunity that is off the beaten path for foreigners, retirees or expats.
The capital of the state of Aguascalientes, is known for its hot springs. Located in central Mexico, this city has the reputation for being Mexico’s cleanest city. It has a population approaching 700,000, most of which are Mexicans, but there is an enclave of expatriates there from Canada and the US. It is not known as a tourist destination, for the most part, but it holds the San Marcos Fair in April, which is the national fair of Mexico, and during its course, all hotels are full.
This city is fast becoming a manufacturing center, with a Nissan plant and its ancillary support services, Texas Instruments, and Siemens. Prior to NAFTA, the principal economic activity was agriculture. Its crime rate is among the lowest of all of Mexico’s larger cities. Homes in Aguascalientes are affordably priced.
Aguascalientes’ elevation is just over 6,000 feet and its climate is mild. It is 500 miles from the US border, and about 300 from Mexico City and Monterrey. Expatriates enjoy the mild climate, and the great value that real estate offers.
There are shopping malls with movie theaters, natural beauty, and a nearby mountain range that has an elevation of nearly 10,000 feet, with an abundance of wildlife. Sierra Fría offers cycling paths, hiking, camping, and picnic areas. Although summer temperatures are mild, it offers a cool respite from the occasional summer heat wave.
Aguascalientes has an airport served by American Airlines, Continental, Aero Mexico, and Northwest and has direct flights from major cities.
If you are looking to move to a place that is not inundated with tourists and is rich in Mexican culture, Aguascalientes could be a good spot for you to invest in real estate.
